A Brief Meta-analysis and Health Risk Assessment of Lead and Cadmium in Meat, Liver, and Kidney of Livestock in Iran

Background: Red meat from livestock is an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the levels of two of the most toxic heavy metals; lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in meat and edible offal (liver and kidney) of livestock (sheep, buffalo, and cow) in Iran with assessing their health risk of developing cancer.

The Effectiveness of Psychodynamic Group Therapy on the Components of the Sense of Coherence Among Patients with Colon Cancer

Background: Cancer causes several social and psychological problems and responses, such as denial, anger, and feelings of guilt, which eventually lead to the patient’s psychological coherence collapse. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of psychodynamic group therapy on the components of the Sense of Coherence (SOC) among patients with colon cancer.

Trend of the polyp and adenoma detection rate by sex and age in asymptomatic average-risk and high-risk individuals undergoing screening colonoscopy, 2012–2019

Background: Adenoma detection rate (ADR) is an imperative quality measure for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. This retrospective observational study aimed to determine the trend of polyp detection rate (PDR) and ADR in asymptomatic average- and high-risk participants in different age groups who underwent screening colonoscopy over the seven years from April 2012 to March 2019 in a tertiary gastroenterology referral center of Iran.

Background: The HAND2-AS1 (HAND2 Antisense RNA 1) Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) has emerged as a participant in the initiation of various cancer types, underscoring its pivotal involvement in both oncological processes and immune responses. To gain deeper insights into the functional nuances of HAND2-AS1 and identify novel avenues for cancer immunotherapy, a comprehensive evaluation of this gene was undertaken.

The oncogene Musashi1 encodes novel miRNAs in breast cancer

Background: RNA-binding protein Musashi1 (MSI1) shows an increased expression level in several cancers and has been introduced as a prognostic marker in some malignancies. It is expected that if any miRNA is encoded by this gene, it might have a role in cancer development or could be considered as a prognostic biomarker.

Background: Parabens are a category of antimicrobial preservatives that may play a role in the etiology and epidemiology of cancers. Background: Lung cancer (LC) is the second most common and deadliest cancer in the world. Despite the control of the progressive course of LC in developed countries, studies indicate an increase in the incidence of the disease in developing countries. Background: PD1/PDL1 pathway targeting using antibodies shows immune related adverse events in patients with tumors. The masking of PD1 ligand by soluble human PD-1 (shPD-1) probably inhibits the PD1/PDL1 interaction between T cells and tumor cells. High claudin‑4 antigen expression in triple‐negative breast cancer by the immunohistochemistry method

Background: Triple‑negative breast cancer is a heterogeneous subtype of breast cancer. Claudin is an epithelial tight junctional protein, and also it is a receptor for clostridium perfringens enterotoxin and shows impairment of expression in several cancers. Nrf2 signaling pathway in trace metal carcinogenesis: A cross-talk between oxidative stress and angiogenesis

Background: A large number of people worldwide are affected by chronic metal exposure, which is known to be associated with different type of malignancies. The mechanisms of metal carcinogenicity are complex in nature, and excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation induced by chronic metal exposure, among the other factors, has been proposed as one of the major mechanisms involved in that process. In tumor cells, ROS buildup may lead to cell death through intrinsic and extrinsic signaling pathways. TiO2 nanotubes/reduced GO nanoparticles for sensitive detection of breast cancer cells and photothermal performance

Background: In this study, we developed a simple and cost effective aptasensor based on TiO2 nanotubes–reduced graphene oxide (TiO2 nanotube-rGO) linked to MUC1 aptamers for ultrasensitive electrochemical detection of breast cancer cell (MCF-7). Moreover, the photothermal performance of nanohybrid TiO2-rGO was investigated for cancer treatment. In this regard, after synthesize of TiO2 nanotubes via anodization process, TiO2 nanotubes–rGO hybrid was synthesized by UV assisted reduction of GO and subsequent TiO2 nanotubes attachment to rGO sheets.

MT1XT20 Single Quasi-Monomorphic Mononucleotide Marker for Detection of Microsatellite Instability in Iranian Patients with Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer (HNPCC).

Background: Colorectal malignancies with high microsatellite instability (MSI-H), either hereditary or sporadic, demonstrate better prognosis, altered response to fluorouracil (5FU) chemotherapy and altered operative approach. It is now recommended to perform MSI testing for all new cases of colorectal cancers regardless of being categorized as hereditary or sporadic. This study aimed to evaluate MT1XT20 mononucleotide marker in Iranian patients with hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC). Endoscopic polypectomy resection of blue rubber bleb nevus lesions in small bowel

Background: Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome (BRBNS) is a rare disorder characterized by cutaneous and gastrointestinal (GI) venous malformations. The treatment of BRBNS is primarily supportive and ablative. Ablative therapy involves endoscopic or surgical treatment of GI venous malformations.
